Friday Egg: Snail Shells

Non-Traditional Pysanky Snail Shell Design in Blues, Grays, Whites and Yellow

Another egg springs from this basic design:

Non-Traditional Pysanky Etched Emu Egg Wagon Wheel Design

But with this design I used curved lines to indicate a dimensionality that doesn't show in the wagon wheels design. It ended up looking like tires or snail shells. The color of the baselines is Golden Wheat and the fill-in colors are shades of Emu Blue and Deep Blue Sea. I definitely feel that there is more to explore with this version of the design, so get ready to see it more often in the future.

Don't forget to come see me at the Ridgetop Winter Bazaar tomorrow (Saturday) December 14th, Ridgetop Elementary School at 5005 Caswell Ave. Austin, TX 78751. It's the last opportunity to see my work in person this year (unless you call for a private showing), so please drop by! I will be showing my ornament eggs only, which are less detailed and simpler designs.

Happy Friday!

  1. That's a great egg! The gold lines instead of white really make the design stand out.

    1. Thanks! I really like the gold outlines on this as well. It adds a more organic or alive quality somehow.
